My Rating: 8.5/10
This is one of the best gifts that I have received. A friend of mine gifted this to me on my birthday. I am a regular coffee drinker. Turning on my coffee machine was the first thing I did when I woke up in the morning for most of my life.
I am health conscious. Naturally, I had been looking for a healthier alternative to have when I wake up in the morning. I have studied yoga and meditation. Along my journey, I had learned about Matcha and always wanted to try it.
This article aims to outline why this matcha tea set is perfect for anybody wanting to try matcha tea.
What is Matcha?
The Matcha beverage began in China’s Song dynasty. It is a method for drinking tea. The highest grade of tea leaves is stoneground and converted into a green powder. Prior to this dynasty, the tea was traditionally steeped.
Matcha is the centerpiece of a tea ceremony, providing its consumers with a variety of antioxidants, nutrients, and amino acids. These are often lost through the process of steaming tea leaves making matcha a popular drink of choice for many generations.
It is a form of green tea that has played a vital role in meditation for centuries. An amino acid found in matcha has been scientifically proven to promote calm alertness. Health-conscious people are turning to match as an alternative to coffee as it has high caffeine content.
This match tea set would make the perfect gift. Maybe you have a partner who is already a fan of green tea or a friend who is looking for an alternative to their morning coffee. Or maybe you are just looking to treat yourself with this complete matcha starter kit.
Either way, look no further!
Health Benefits of Matcha Tea
There are many health benefits to drinking matcha. It is an easy and simple way to add powerful health benefits to your everyday diet. Therefore, this matcha tea set will help you live a healthier lifestyle.
Some health benefits are:
- It boosts your metabolism
- Burn calories
- Effectively detoxifies
- Calms the mind naturally
- Relaxes the body
- Enhances mood
- Aids concentration
- Rich in fiber, chlorophyll, and vitamins
- Is packed with antioxidants
- Rich in vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium
- Prevents disease
- Lowers cholesterol
- Lowers blood sugar
MatchSource recommends three simple steps for finding your focus, a guide for meditation. They are as follows:
- MATCHA. Add one teaspoon of sifted matcha to the tea bowl. (If using a traditional bamboo tea scoop, add 2 heaving scoops.)
- WATER. Add two ounces of hot water (preferably filtered or bottled) at 180° F to the bowl. For a richer, fuller body, use just one ounce of water.
- WHISK. Whisk the tea and water in a vigorous back and forth motion until the tea is dissolved and a light froth appears.
How to prepare this?
Open your matcha tea set. Sift 1 tsp matcha tea into a tea bowl. Add 3 oz hot, not boiling, water (about 180 degrees). Whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion until a light foam covers the tea. Matcha is ready to drink. Adjust proportions to taste.
Why does the water temperature matter?
Water quality and temperature are important in making good tasting matcha. Begin with cool spring or filtered water and bring it to just under a boil (about 180 degrees).
Boiling water will “scorch” the delicate matcha leaves and impart a bitter taste.
The cost of the gift set is also decent and I’ll recommend my family and friend to buy this Matcha tea set.
The Contents of this Matcha Tea Set

- a bamboo whisk and celadon whisk holder
- a tea sifter
- a bamboo tea scoop
- a 30g tin of matcha – yields 15-20 servings
Utensils for Celebrating your Tea
The match tea set includes a sifter. This is because using solely a whisk will ensure your matcha is lumpy. This is not recommended. The sifter ensures a smooth cup of matcha.
The bamboo whisk or chasen, is a traditional utensil in from the tea ceremony. it is uniquely suited for creating a frothy beverage.
The tea scoop or chashaku, is made from bamboo and is perfect for measuring out matcha powder.
The matcha bowl or chawan, in its most simple form, is the container for the matcha tea. However, it has been viewed as the best vessel for celebrating the taste, aroma, and color of your matcha tea.
The box the matcha tea set came in was large. Inside the case, everything was snug and presented nicely. The pot itself felt like borosilicate glass and the contents were beautifully crafted.
I really enjoyed the flavor. However, it is bitter and may take some getting used to if you are accustomed to different flavors.
For example, flowering tea is what causes the bitterness. I tried mixing it with honey and found that some most of the blossoms went well with honey.
Lots of coffee is very bitter and people who don’t like the bitterness, find their own way to adjust the flavor.
